What awaits you in this course?

In this online course, you can prepare your application for the internship and various communication scenarios in the company. The focus is on job-orientated communication. At the end of the course, you will know the successive steps in the application process, you will be able to understand information about the company (website) and compare job advertisements, write your application for an internship, arrange an appointment for an interview, understand the tasks and work assignments of your superiors and ask questions, hold short conversations (small talk) with colleagues and present a work project.

Learning objectives

Scenario 1

  • Collect and compare information (facts and figures) about a company
  • Write a tabular CV.

Scenario 2

  • Write an application for an internship/working student position
  • talk about my career ambitions and qualifications (job interview)
  • prepare for the job interview

Scenario 3 + 4

  • Have conversations in the company (HR department, team management)
  • Small talk during the lunch break
  • Ask for information about health insurance; submit a medical note (written and spoken)

Scenario 5

  • Describe a project (consultation hour) (communication in the degree programme)
  • Present results (project task) in an internal workshop (communication in the company)
  • present a project in a seminar (communication in the degree programme)

Outline

The course is structured in five chapters. Chapters 1 and 2 show you how to read a job advertisement, get additional information, write your biography and a tabular CV and prepare your application for an internship. Chapter 3 shows you how to communicate with superiors and colleagues in a target-oriented manner in various everyday situations in the company. In chapter 4, you will learn how to describe a project (internship) and how to present it in the seminar at the university. Finally, in chapter 5, you will prepare your own application for an internship with a micro project. Depending on your level of learning, each chapter corresponds to approx. 90 minutes of teaching and concludes with a test task and self-evaluation.
